Off-grid systems vary heavily depending on what the property needs to run, daily energy use, battery size, inverter capacity, generator backup, cable runs, switchboard work and whether the system is for a shed, cabin or full home. Frequently Asked Questions

Do you install complete off-grid systems?

Yes. We design and install the complete system — solar array, battery storage, inverters, switchboard work, backup circuits and generator integration — and commission it as one engineered package. You deal with one licensed Queensland electrical contractor from load assessment through to handover.

Can you design an off-grid system for a new build?

Yes. New builds on land without a grid connection are one of the best times to go off-grid, because we can design the system alongside your house plans — sizing solar, batteries, inverter capacity and generator backup around the loads the finished home will actually run.

Can you power a full home off-grid?

Yes. A correctly engineered off-grid system can run a full home including fridges, lighting, pumps, hot water, Starlink and air conditioning. The key is honest load assessment and sizing the solar, battery and inverter capacity to match — with generator backup where the numbers call for it.

Do I need a generator?

Most reliable full-home off-grid systems include a generator for backup. Solar and batteries handle the vast majority of the year, but a generator covers extended overcast periods, unusually high demand or maintenance windows. For smaller shed and cabin systems a generator is often optional. We'll tell you honestly whether your situation warrants one.

How many batteries do I need?

It depends on your overnight consumption and how many days of autonomy you want during poor weather. Rather than guess, we model your daily energy use and the bad-weather reserve you need, then size the battery bank to suit. Undersizing leads to flat batteries and generator overuse; oversizing wastes money — proper sizing is the whole point.

Can off-grid solar run air conditioning?

Yes, but it has to be designed in. Air conditioning is a heavy, surging load, so the inverter must handle the start-up surge and the battery must carry the runtime. We size the system around how and when you actually run AC. Inverter-style (soft-start) units are far easier to run off-grid than older fixed-speed units.

Can you upgrade an existing off-grid system?

Yes. We regularly upgrade tired or undersized systems — adding battery capacity, replacing failed batteries with modern lithium, upgrading inverters, or integrating a generator. We start by assessing what you have and where it's falling short before recommending the most cost-effective upgrade path.

Do you install systems for sheds and cabins?

Absolutely. Sheds, workshops, cabins, tiny homes and weekenders are a core part of what we do. These systems can be beautifully simple when scoped correctly — enough power for lights, fridge, tools, pumps and devices without paying for full-home capacity you don't need.
